Having already bagged Single Of The Week with their first release "Sink Venice" the London four-piece have triumphed again by being reckless and totally off their bonces. Think a manical At The Drive In fused with the raw intensity of Shellac and the demented ramblings of The Fall in what essentially sounds like a spontaneous jam in a rehearsal room and best appreciated in a noisy pub venue. Ikara Colt play their instruments with chaotic abandon - the only requirements being to plug in and simply let rip. "One Note" with its screeching vocals and schizo guitars succeeds on account of its ability to translate fiery emotion through its shambolic brilliance. In terms of alcoholic beverages, Ikara Colt would have to be a Guinness, as this is nothing less than pure genius.

Camden's Ikara Colt, who cut quite a dash in retro suits, skinny ties and trainers, may evoke a visual link with the The Strokes, but their tight shouty rock is more like old school British punk. And when we say old school British punk, what we actually mean isThe Fall. Pretty good, all in all. And they really do employ just one note throughout the 2 mins 17secs of the song - a lesson in economy to us all. (Paul McNamee)
